Advair Diskus Equivalents
Active Ingredient: Fluticasone/Salmeterol
Advair Diskus is used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Advair Diskus is an inhaler that contains two forms of medication and is taken orally. One of the medications is fluticasone propionate, the other is salmeterol, combined they reduce inflammation in the lungs and open up the airways for long lasting relief. Together, the ingredients in Advair Diskus can provide control of symptoms better than when used individually.
Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the airways causing them to swell and narrow, which can often make breathing difficult. One can react differently to asthma triggers, such as being exposed to cigarette smoke, allergens and during or after exercise. The narrowing of the airways can usually be partially and in some cases completely reversed with Advair Diskus.
Some patients have long-term shortness of breath with episodes of increased shortness of breath. In others, a cough may be the main symptom. An asthma attack can last minutes or even days; this can be dangerous if the airflow becomes severely restricted. Attacks can often be suppressed and treated with Advair Diskus.
